Child abuse affects millions of children worldwide. According to UNICEF, 1 in every 4 children has experienced some form of physical abuse. At the same time, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 13 boys have been subjected to sexual abuse before the age of 18.
Most cases go unreported, as only 1 in 10 cases are being brought to the attention of authorities. We should understand that it can happen in any community, regardless of socio-economic status or cultural background. Therefore, it's crucial to recognize the signs, speak up, and prevent child abuse while supporting those affected. Being vigilant and taking action is necessary because child abuse may be closer than you realize.
